Liebe IIMC-Freunde,
nachdem sich die Lage im IIMC in Kalkutta seit Anfang des Jahres zu stabilisieren schien und die Aufbau- und Wiedereröffnungsarbeiten endlich beginnen konnten (Report März 2021), folgen nun Schreckensmeldungen:
300.000 an Corona Infizierte in Indien pro Tag, geschätzt weit über 3000 Tote täglich, überfüllte und überforderte Kliniken, sterbende Menschen auf den Strassen.
Die für Indien lange befürchtete Corona-Welle überspült tsunamiartig das Land.
Auch von Dr. Sujit erreichen uns ungewohnt düstere Zeilen. Der sonst stets optimistische Leiter des Projekts schreibt heute bekümmert:
„COVID Situation is in catastrophic stage. We are doing our best to help all School children, WPC Mothers, our poor and sick neighbours with Essential Supplies. (…)
All IIMC volunteers are safe and not yet infected, most of us are vaccinated. However, our IIMC indoor, Sonarpur is one of Epicenter of COVID infection in Bengal. Naturally we are in panic and worried, but shall not stop our work and service – we all IIMC volunteers are committed to help people in their needs, and we know you all and everyone is with us.
All the Sponsorship Children and their families are OK and safe, incidentally COVID infection is more prevalent in urban area, rural areas are comparatively safer and most of our children are from rural villages. Until now there’s no Lock Down, people can move around and work. People have slowed down their movement – kind of self locked down and in restricted movements. However we all IIMC members are working out to take care of everyone.
All people are in panic and confused, don’t know how to handle the situation, hospitals are overcrowded … not enough places, huge shortage of Oxygen supply. In our country of 1.3 billion people are in acute situation – very difficult condition to manage the catastrophic and chaotic situation.
Let’s Cross the fingers that we all shall develop Strong Immunity against this catastrophic Virus.
If any sponsoring parents, family, our supporting friends want to make any donation or contribution – very welcome and if you mention we shall bring support to that specific child and family, however we shall share and extend our support aid, relief etc. to every child and parents.
